新年快樂! [Chinese] New Year's Day

We got to go to church at this gorgeous building in 花蓮 (Hualien).
As Chinese New Year is the biggest holiday of the year, and New Year's
fell on a Sunday, each unit in Taiwan had Sacrament meeting only.
We met some wonderful people there and heard fabulous
talks (a missionary did an excellent job translating for us).

We spent the rest of the day in a national park
called Taroko Gorge, one of the gems of Taiwan.

We found this Buddhist temple nestled in
the moutainside, and decided to venture over.

That night, back in 花蓮, we walked down to the shore,
where we enjoyed others' fireworks and set a red Chinese lantern
off into the night sky, covered with our wishes for the future.

wow. don't you feel like "crouching tiger hidden dragon"? I would want to jump right off the mountain like they did in the movie. or maybe kung fu panda.
