Happy 99, year of the tiger! (In Taiwan, they know and use two different calendars, the Greogorian calendar, which is the international standard, as well as the Minguo, or Republic of China calendar.) For those of you born during the year of the tiger, you should be preparing yourselves for either a very auspicious or inauspicious year. If you're Daoist, and happen to have been born during the year of the tiger, you will supplicate the gods for blessings during this calendar year, pleading with them to send their good vibes in your direction. If you were born during the following dates, you were born in the year of the tiger:
17 February 1950 - 5 February 1951
5 February 1962 - 24 January 1963
23 January 1974 - 10 February 1975
9 February 1986 - 28 January 1987
28 January 1998 - 15 February 1999
15 February 2010 - 2 February 2011
5 February 1962 - 24 January 1963
23 January 1974 - 10 February 1975
9 February 1986 - 28 January 1987
28 January 1998 - 15 February 1999
15 February 2010 - 2 February 2011
We got back from our Chinese New Year vacation last week, and I'm only now finding a little bit of time to blog about it. It was simply marvelous. I love this island and its people. I'm going to blog about each day of Chinese New Year and what most Taiwanese do on those days, and then give you a synopsis of what I did on each day. Enjoy! :) 新年快樂!
