新年快樂! [Chinese] New Year's Eve

After a painless five hour train ride, we made it to 花蓮 (Hualien), checked into our hostel, and headed to a famous dumplings stand downtown. Mmm mmm mmm...I'm telling you, there's a reason why you might have to stand in line for an hour to get these goods. Delish.

We rented scooters and set off down the beautiful eastern coast of Taiwan! Happiness.

Megan and I were posing for a pic on the shore, when
all of a sudden the waves were rushing at our feet.
We made a mad dash so as not to get our pants wet. :)

Further down the coast is this sight for sore eyes.
Scooter buddies!

That night on our way home, we stopped to check out a beautiful Buddhist temple, and one of the sweet nuns invited us to eat New Year's Eve dinner with them. Scrumptious. (Buddhists in Taiwan are vegetarians, so we didn't have to worry about any sketchy meat.) It was a real treat and a perfect way to end our Chinese New Year's Eve.
