Italian Strawberry Delight

Inspiration for this post: scrumptious strawberries purchased yesterday in heaven (i.e. my local French grocery store).

One thing I love about Italian meals is that they often eat fruit for dessert. They'll top their meals off with pears, bananas, oranges, or strawberries. What a fabulous idea.

When I was on my mission in Italia, we were enjoying homemade Italian cuisine one day at a friend's house (and yes, it really is everything it claims to be). Our friend, Franca, asked me to prepare the dessert: sliced strawberries, covered in lemon juice, and topped with sugar. I was outraged. "Why," I wondered "has no one introduced me to such a concoction, in all my 21 years?! Strawberries and lemons are two of my favorite things in this world- of course they would be sensational together! Why have I never learned this divine recipe before?" I knew before I even tasted it that I would be smitten- for life.
